The Challenges

Earthworks Package: Cut & fill of approx. 23,000m3 of material, all stabilised with the use of GPS dozers and excavators.

Project Details: 2 large industrial units totalling approx. 32,000m2 including access roads, car park and concrete service yard. Forming of new balancing pond, deep drainage, laser levelling, channel drainage, and lift pits.

From the beginning, JB Construction 1‘s team of dedicated professionals have been hard at work to complete the enabling package, which began with groundworks including the relocation of local medium–voltage electricity cables. This required a large amount of preparatory work to ensure that the area was ready for the construction to take place.

Now, the work to prepare the groundworks for the two industrial units begins in earnest. The team is undertaking a mix of earthworks activities including cut & fill approx. 23,000m3 of material, all stabilised with the use of GPS dozers and excavators. This will help to create the level ground surface needed for the industrial units to be built.

In addition to the earthworks tasks, the team is also preparing the foundations and drainage for the two large industrial units. The works are expected to cover around 32,000m2 of surface area, including access roads, car park and concrete service yard. Other activities include forming new balancing ponds, deep drainage, laser levelling, channel drainage, and lift pits. Whilst these works alone total millions, they are central to the completion of the buildings and require careful management and engineering to ensure they are completed correctly.

With the enabling package now completed, and the groundwork package well underway, JB Construction 1 are working hard to hit the target completion date for Renishaw Plc and Barnwood Construction. The team are using a combination of modern techniques and traditional building methods to ensure that the project meets the requirements of its stakeholders. By combining skill and reliability, JB Construction 1 are setting a benchmark for future projects of this size and scope.
